Fish tank weight

Yeah, a 200 gallon tank will weight about 300 pounds, see if you can get a few more people to help you. Largest tank I had moved by hand was 240 and that was a real struggle, took me and 3 people from my gym (which was a strongman gym at the time) to move it, it weighed close to 400 pounds and each of us could lift that weight up and carry it with no problem, but the shape of the tank and the fact there is nothing to really hold onto made it very difficult.

Hey guys, I'm picking up a 200g glass aquarium, I was wondering how many people it would take to lift it. The ideal would be myself, a 5ft 7 fourteen year old, the store owner, (an average sized male), and my mom who is 5ft 4 and decently stronger than your average women. That is just the ideal, the owner of the store can get another grown man in to help.

A good dolly will help you out a lot here. Ive moved tanks up to 220 gallons by myself with the help of a dolly and a couple loading straps. That being said, i have a bit of experience moving large furniture and whatnot. At the minimun i would recommend at least 2 people to move a tank like youre talking about.

This is a 300 I moved with 4 other people. We had suction cups, as you can see on bottom left and right side of tank. We had to move it up a set of stairs, then down another, before the sled idea seen here on the snow.

It was quite a challenge to go through the stairwell with 2 bodies on each side of the tank but we got it eventually. Slow and steady, plan almost every move before lifting.

Yeah, it's less about how much you can lift, and more about how much you can lift with your fingertips and outstretched arms. :)

I highly recommend you invest in a furniture dolly. They make all the difference when youre short people to help move it. I moved my 550G 3/4" acrylic tank by myself using a dolly and just had my fiance balance the other end. It'll make your life sooo much easier

My 225 weighs somewhere in the 385 - 420 lb range...caveat being the glass is 1/2" tempered all around instead of 3/4". Saved a few pounds and gained some water volume back. Took 4 medium sized guys with suction cups I provided.

I moved my 150 glass tank down a flight of stairs into my fish room with my two son-laws . It wasn't hard lifting it with the three of us , going down the stairs was just slow and careful. There is no way you, your mother and one adult is carrying that tank up any steps and through a doorway and then putting up on a stand. You are going to need 4 strong guys for that one unless you want to risk damaging the tank or one of you getting hurt doing it.

2 furniture dollies, 4 double-suction cups, and a 500 or 1000lb lift cart. All from harbor freight.

Moved a 350lb 180 (3/4" rimless) by myself. I was just careful, methodical, and patient. I did have to go up one step from the Florida room into the TV room and I used a floor jack (4x4 to distribute pressure) and just transferred to another furniture dolly inside.

The suction cups are so you can walk it onto the stand from the lift. Easier if you don't have an overflow with bulkheads underneath to worry about like I did. Otherwise, I could have just slid it on.

A couple of 2x4s or 4x4s will be handy too. I used a spare pallet. The lift didn't go quite high enough and I wanted to spread the lifts footprint.

The problem with having someone else help you move, is they don't have as big an investment in the giant glass bucket you just bought. :D

Good luck!
