i have 500 dollar electric bill

my highest electricity bill was $465 in March of this year. it's currently running around $230. All i did was remove one useless hubby, all of the HOB filters and cut down on all of the parasitic loads, everything is either unplugged or shut off by a power strip when not in use. the lights and heaters are all still plugged in and working normally, all but a few of them have been on timers since the beginning.

i want my electricity bill back down under $200 and i think i can do it with larger tanks and fewer air pumps running more foam filters.

I have no idea how many flowerhorns i currently have. ;)

If large fry and fry are not included i have 5 adults and young adults.

Man your some kind of fishfreak!

10g, 20g, 30g, 44g corner, 2X 55g, 75g, 125g. At the moment they're all empty. I'm waiting for the arrival of our second child to see how much time I have available for keeping fish. I also have a 350g outdoor pond. I'll be housing the fish inside a 300g stock tank in the basement.

I have 9 tanks currently, 5 of them are setup at the moment.

10g Saltwater
20g-High Saltwater
20g-Long Freshwater Planted - Also breed Mollies and Guppies in here
20g-Long Freshwater Planted # 2 - 8 Corydora, Juvi Senegal, Guppies
75g-Freshwater Planted - Oscar, Pike, Plecos, Snails etc...

So obviously lots of lighting and heating...

Currently not setup but they are in my house.

125g Freshwater - Resealing now and need to build a stand
29g - Replacing one of the 20g longs
29g - Needs resealed, who knows what I'll do with it
50g Hex - 30 Years old, started seeping finally. I want to make it a tank for some sort of reptile because it's so tall.

- Still want a indoor pond for a Red Tailed Cat.
- Still want another Aro some day.
- Still want some Cichlas some day.
- Still want LOTS more Bichirs
- Still want.... Well I want a lot.

At one point I had:
75
55
29
29
29
20

10

Right now I have:
75
55 (if you count the turtle tank)
29
and I'll be setting up a 120 soon and shutting down the 29

Yeah I'm starting to worry about this a bit. I need to think of ways to cut down on power. My bill last month ws over $300.

The current number seems manageable.

What made you decide to cut back on the tanks?

been trying to cut back.. new rule is no tanks under 100g.. the 100g (60"x18") is in the house, and the rest are in the fish room (garage) ... no flowerhorns. :D
