Can you give me the name of some large predatory fishes that can breathe or can survive in extreme low oxygen cuz of their unique breathing or even without air pump? I know of arowana, arapaima, gars, tarpons, snakeheads, aba aba knifefish, clown knifefish, bichirs, lungfish, bowfin, hoplias and giant gourami. I really wanna know more about this, since I just realised that tarpons can breathe air today. I wanna know if there are more fishes that could breathe air, but they're underrated or most people don't know that they can breathe air.

There are a couple I can think of off of the top of my head, the first of which being a dojo loach. I have one and sometimes he will go out of the water for breif periods to get away from other fish. another one would be ropefish, as they are close relatives of the bichir and have lungs. an additional wild card might be some deepwater tanganykan cichlids eg. Bathybates, Gnathochromis, Hemibates and Xenochromis. these fish live in/are comminly found in the lakes "fossil water" whcih is almost entirely hypoxic(devoid of oxygen). we arent entirely sure how they do it, bit I have always found that really cool.

Other than lung fish, there are many fishes that can breath air including Snakehead, giant gourami, climbing perch, *****irs, lungfish, arapaima, gar, and more, and many are predatory. These fish evolved different mechanism to breath air to survive in oxygen poor water or seasonal drought but skin need to stay moist to survive.

Callichthyid/Loricariid/Clariid catfish can breathe air as well
