Siamese algea eaters go good as well, they don't get that big, but they are too fast and can get away easily if they have to. I have some in with my oscars for 2 years now...and it's all good. they do a good job of keeping things clean without the piles of poop

Oscars are too rude and clumsy. You will never find a fish that will give one a compliment unless threatened to do so.

IMO Redhead cichlid (Vieja synspila). They have the same growth rate as the oscar. They get to be about 12-13 inches I think. Everytime My oscar had a growth spurt my redhead had one as well.

I kept a 4" convict with my 11" Oscar until he almost succeeded in eating it. And I also tried introducing a 6" female JD to the tank (90 gallons) and I've never seen such a scary look on my Oscar's face. He kept barrelling after her at top speed with his mouth all the way open (and it opens WIDE). Needless to say, I had to remove her to save her life.

I used to think Oscars could live peacefully with others, but definitely not mine! :-(
