Fish to keep jack dempsey in line?

Two of my first fish were a standard JD and a widebar dat. I named them Bad Cop and Good Cop respectively, because the JD would mess with the smaller/more delicate fish and the dat would regularly step in and regulate things without being aggressive to the smaller fish.

Obviously a 6''+ widebar isn't cheap, but my point is that sometimes fish just have the right personality to do this.

Ya what is a good "cop" fish for two small jds I am going fishing this weekend and probably going to catch some channel cats and large mouth bass and I'll see what I catch and if anything is small I'm going to put it in their tank with them and I really want to order somo

I'd try adding a school of giant danios. They're cheap so if some gets eaten, who cares? But they are so fast! I'm sure if you could maintain a small colony, it would absorb a ton of aggression.

And I really want to order or catch some small channel cats which I will grow up then release back into my pond
