anyone here know how to make a fishtrap?... for freshwater lakes... any info would be great.. thanks! :grinno:

Try googling 'opera house nets', they only cost about 5 aussie bucks here and are good for catching feeders (fish and crustaceans). I assume that is what you are going to use them for.

A net.

A spear.

A gun, shotguns work best.

A gernade.

Toxic waste.

Lots of volts.

Yeah, but find out what you want to catch first.

Some fish need a diffrent style. Like bottom dwellers vs top dwellers.

And bait, garlic cloves and worms works.

I always had luck with hooking crickets to a fishing line, with no weights. So the crickets float. I would hook up about 10 and just let them float around the dock. The crickets are still alive if you hook them right, and dart around. And most fish will look up for bugs to eat...and see that. They dart right for it.

make a rectangle frame out of 1x2 wood.
"might float for a week or so,just put a rock on it,it will sink"
or use pvc "never done it that way".
cover it with window screen, metal screen works better for the hole.
staple it to the wood.
on one end cut an x in the middle and bend the tabs in.
on the other end, only staple one side,so it can open like a door "to get fish out".
then tie the other end of the door shut however you want.
tie a rope or strong string to the trap.then tie it to a rock, tree, bush.
bait it,i use bread.i just put a cucumber in mine, going for plecos.
i check mine every sunday, you can check yours sooner if wanted.
sometimes theres fish,sometimes not.
might get pics of mine this sunday.
good luck
