Quarantine Tank
Please list the fish you have owned with "personality" and tell us about your monster fishy!

This thread is meant to help people who wonder about what fish to get.:nilly:

Show us some pics too! :)

why?

Butterkoferi have pretty decent personalities when they're bigger, although it's usually a "i'm going to eat everything" point of view.

Arowanas seem to have great personalities, and recognize their owners. I've kept many cichlids also, most seem pretty dumb. Catfish are for sure dumb.

I had a red devil that seemed to have a vivd personality, that or he was just mean. Probably a bit of both.

I had a one eyed tiger oscar that was straight up BLACK. He was a great fish for being handicapped. But...I've also had two ruby red oscars that were about a foot long each, and they seemed to be dumber then dirt.

Julidochromis seem to have decent personalities also. And my spotted raphael catfish named Socrates is a pretty cool dude!

If you follow the Main Tank link in my sig there's links to videos of my Arowana.

This Julie isn't mine:

my african mbuna have quite the "feed-me feed-me" personality
when I first got them I was surprised that I was told they would beg for food every time I walked by the tank, but they really do, not sure if that just counts as being greedy or having personality....

my oscars also have a lot of the above stated personality.

Pacu all the way-
Once worked with-One can pet them hand feed them..
At feeding time (mine at least) will approach the glass waiting for food-
Being placed in a large enough volume of ater and they are like a child in playground-Constantly swimming/playing,etc,etc-
Here is a pic of my guy...

I had 2 green spots that were freaking awesome.
they were 4.5 inches. they would follow me around eat out of my hand. Great fish!

my cardinal tetras eat out of my hand:headbang2

jewel cichlids are great. personality, ferocity (for their size), and colours.

cons are cool too, ecspecially in pairs

Pacus- definatly #1. Followed by oscars, jag and JD. My CK has lots of personality, but it isn't the personality of a nice guy.:grinno: Marbled Pim eats from my hand, too.

Our pacus are extremely interactive fish. They are very curious about the world outside their tank, and are continuously watching us. Sometimes, I feel like I'm the one in the "fishbowl" Our fish are very doglike in behavior, and will push each other out of the way to be petted. I almost get the feeling that they wonder why they have to confined to the tank, when we get to walk around outside the tank. Our pampered beloved cat gets jealous, when we pay attention to the fish. She will cry and cry for attention. We told her she was our "Pacu Kitten" to console her. My husband picks her up and rocks her gently, saying "Pacu Kitten goes swim swim swim". As he walks with her back and forth in front of our 8 foot tank, the pacu swim along...we have a parade on the inside and outside of the tank. Our pacu are our water dogs.

Here is a clip that shows what rascals our big boys are. We were feeding them slices of potato, when one of the pacu managed to inhale a slice of potato that curled up like a cigarette. He was swimming around with a potato cigarette stuck in his mouth. I didn't know if I'd have to do the Heimlich Manuever on him! By the time I got the camera, he had finished it off. This is the tail end of the feeding. The water is dirty with potato bits. Adonis gets the better of Leonardo de Fishio, the tank bully, who chases him around and nips at Adonis' tail to no avail. Adonis inhales his last piece which is stuck in his mouth. With potato still in his mouth, he is unable to pick up the last potato chip. You can see what a total rascal Leonardo is, as he munches down the last chip. He keeps one eye on me the whole time. He almost has a grin on his face after he finishes. He swims off to harrass his brother, Adonis.
