Chocolate cichlids come to mind, many fish are very interactive if you hand feed them

I’m partial to koi and plecos shubunkins are nice too. They follow me all over, and you can train them to hand feed. My galaxy pleco hides a lot, but my gold spot is out all the time and his fins flutter so beautifully.

A good quality shebunkin is a truly beautiful fish, which of the three shebunkin do you prefer? Bristol,American or London shebunkin?

A friend of mine has a big black belt he keeps solo. I dont know much about them, but its always fun to go interact with it when i stop by his place. Just another cichlid to throw into the mix to consider.

I’m surprised you didn’t suggest a Butti

I’ve found most Vieja to be very interactive, Oscura Heterospilus too

You also never know, some specific fish will be interactive when they’re not commonly known to be. I had a female Jack Dempsey that had a huge personality, amphilophus-like and hyper aggressive.

Haha, you know my soft spot for them <3 , but this seems like its leaning more tward a centerpiece, that could potentially play nice with some bottom dwellers or something like that. We know that wont be able to happen with a butti in there, unless its a freak like mine, and doesnt just kill everything like most do lol

I'd also toss out there to look into Polypterus as well. While they don't have the personalities like some Oscars and other wet pets have (follow you across the glass and such)... Ones such as Dehezi do have very unique personalities and IMO a more interesting fish you will not find.

That's what was suggested to me by a member here about 8 months ago when I was looking for a fish that was a bit different when I was looking to stock one of my 4ft 120g tanks and I ended up getting one. Then two, then three, now six lol. So look into them as well if you haven't yet, they are a really neat fish to keep.

Same here! I started with one poly several months ago. Now I have nine in various stages of growing out :)
