Hi, this happens very often. My red terror has white spots again, how to treat it other than buying specific medication from petstore? I change water very often, almost once every two days since it had white spots, but it will not go away. I used to use aquarium salt to treat it, but it killed my fish.

Yeah I described it as "white spots" too and it was ick...and I dont think aquarium salt will kill your fish maybe unless you put too much..you will have to leave that to the experts.. but I put one full tbl spoon per every 5 gals and the Ick was gone in a week and then after that I had to treat another tank and the same treatment work..so aquarium salt surly worked for me

if its ick raise the temp. for about 4 days and it should b gone .

Oh yeah forgot to tell you that too..to about 85-86 degrees

If this happens quite often, I would put the fish in a set-up bucket for at least 4 to 5 days and do a full clean-up on the tank. Take it all apart and clean it well. Make sure it is completely clean and dry, then set it up and let it cycle for a couple days before you put the fish back in. Treat the fish for ich while it is in the bucket (or another tank). Do like the others said add salt and raise the temp to 85.

i did raise the temperature and they are in bucket, b/c fish store broke the 75g tank i asked them to order, another 75g will be there on this friday.

Did you add aquarium salt? Raising the temp alone won't cut it I don't think.

:iagree:

What are the tankmates?

Repeated cases of ich can be from stress.

I'd add a Tbs. of salt per 10g for 5 days and raise the temp. Then clean the gravel real good, 75% WC, usuall filter cleaning, and add a Tbs. of salt per 20g.
