Fish you dislike.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm not sure there are any fish I "dislike", I love fish, but there are lots of fish I wont own or I disagree with the need for them to exist! Like all the ugly mutated hybrid goldfish that cant swim properly, or do anything for that matter except bob around in the current! Whats with that!? How can people find that attractive?! :screwy:

Blood Parrots are just wrong looking, if I caught a fish like that in nature I'd look around for a nucleur power station near by!

Most tiny little fish like neons and tatras etc. They just have no personality and I find them boring, may as well just have a planted tank! (just kidding)

Anything tatoo'd or dyed or artifically interfered with by humans.

I have a soft spot for Oscars though after owning a few years ago, they are like a water dog! :D

I hear ya. That does not really apply to me...I keep bluntnose and fathead minnows for crying out loud...I didn't even have to pay for them they are so common. :D

reweedon....I thougt I didn't like rapheals when I had one because I never saw him, now that I got ridof him I want him back. Seeing him was exciteing and he was neat looking when he was out and about. I would forget about him and BAM...there he was, like finding money in your pocket.

LOL .. I love fish too. I dont really care if its the in fish or trendy.. Just so happens
that my choices right now are the "in" fish. Its not always the case.

eh I like all fish... all fish should be treated equal!! =) .... I dunno I dont discriminate against my fish or other fish.

Raphael Cat's are the worst we have had one at the store for well over a year and I still don't even think any of our customers have seen him...

I couldn't agree anymore! They are useless fish. I had one and it did nothing but hide in its hole and would only come out in the middle of the night and if it ever felt the vibration of people walking by the tank it would dart back to its hiding place. Same thing with Kuhlii loaches. Step dad had one for near 20 years and saw it once a month at most.

And I hate oscars because they're ugly and they're messy and have never appealed to me. But it's weird cause the usually the uglier the fish the more I like it. Even in my 6 years working in the fish industry could I never tolerate them.

Wow!! i do not keep Oscar's, but i did not know that there are that many people that dislike O's.
I've always heard of people keeping them and liking them very much!

cichlids, a bunch of tank wreckers, every now and then an idividual fish might catch my eye , but as a general rule i dont like them

I'm beginning to think that the main reason why so many people here are anti-oscar is because they've already owned them and want to move on. I like 'em! lots of personality, ugly, yet appealing. The only non-interesting factor I see in them is that they take up valuable tank space that I'd rather use for something else that I've never kept before.

yep, oscars have peronality, but i'd never own another one.I don't care for cichlids ,period, well, except for pike and peacock bass. small "community fish" don't appeal to me either.basically if it breathes air , I'm into it. Snakeheads, Lung fish, Gars, Bichirs etc. Arrowanas and RTCs are on top of my list of loves too, Just something about the fact that if a certian type of "fish" doesn't have access to air it'll drown, intrigues me.
