Fish You Just Hate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hate livebearers and puffers.

I don't hate any fish honestly, just not a big fan of a few of them really.

#1 on that list would have to be Oscars......

Reason being everybody and their mom has an Oscar, and I personally try to steer away from things that have become such a fad that people are starting to get their mothers into it as well.

someone asks:"what kind of fish you got?"

my answer is usually:
"big fish"
"predatory fish"
"crazy fish"
or
"mean fish"

their reply is always: "what you mean like an Oscar or something?":screwy:

they then go into a big story about an Oscar they used to have that was in a
_____ gallon tank (place random number between 10 and 55) and grew to be a whopping _____ inches (place random number between 4 and 10) until it got too big and they released it into _______ lake (place name of local lake)

I let them tell their story and inform them kindly and simply that "My fish would have destroyed your Oscar." and leave them to ponder that.

quite Frankly I'm very tired of it all and as such would not be caught dead with an Oscar in my tank.

Theres my $0.02

My Eels LOL their peacock spiny eels, and I'm still trying to sell them, the lfs wont take em, and I get plenty of responses from my adds, all by people who are way to far away, or expect my parents to drive 3 hours to drop them off, even though I stated quite clearly pick up only.

Albino bristlenose plecos and all corydoras

Highly demanding fish such as jurapari cichlids. You can change their water every week/ every few days...Give them special expensive foods and they still need more. They are like care-taking black holes. I wish I never bought them at all.

The same thing happens to me! Everyone who sees my tank asks if I have an oscar (or sometimes Jack Dempsey). I do have an oscar, but I got it a long time ago and only still keep it for it's personality. I kind of don't want to see it in the "Nobody Loves Me" tank at the LFS. Everyone wants to know if I have an Oscar, JD, or one of the those giant suckerfish lol. I've only been asked if I have a real monster fish once, when my dad's friend asked if I had any arowana.
