Fish youve kept the longest?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My very first fish was a Goldfish, got him when i was about 10, kept him for about 6 years...died 2 years ago.

Oldest fish since then would have to be a murray cod which lasted about 6 months...then died due to the tank reaching about 40C.

Had a Koi for 3 years, had to sell it, got to big.

My oldest fish would have been my beta. I had a Beta in one of those small bowls. Bought him in 1987 for a grade 8 science project about ecosystems. then in grade 12 biology had to do something along the same lines as the grade 8 project, just more advanced used the same fish for the biology oral presentation. He died about 6 months after that, so he was around 5 1/2 years old.

wow, i had no idea some of these fishes lived for so long. I just got into this less than 2 yrs ago, i'll have to write down the approximate dates of my fish for future referance. Because you know this thread will re-appear in some time, over and over again.

But to add...
My common pleco, I figure about 18-19 months. my only remaining fish that i started the hobby with. ~1.5" then, 6-7" now.

Currently I have a pleco, JD and a cory cat still from when I set my current tank up 7 years ago. My Pike and Delhezi are 5 years old.
