I am somewhat new at the whole fish thing I have a 90 gal tank and abt 15 to 20 assorted chiclids in it. How often should I change the water?

depends on what kind of fish is it, what substrate you have, how often do you feed it. Just test the water, if its very high ammonia then change it about 25-50% depends on its ammonia reading.

whats the size of the ciclids?what type of fish?what food do you feed them

I think on average you should always clean the water at least weekly...

Yeh, I'd go with weekly, I usually do a 50% water change weekly.

this thread should be finished now.. but ya.. 1once a week.. to keep water quality great..

It depends on what species of fish you have and how large they will eventually get, you could be overstocked. Check your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate regularly. Readings for ammonia and nitrite should be zero in a healthy system, if not you have a problem with the setup (overstocked, under cleaned etc.) Nitrate can only be removed through water changes at should be as low as possible but most hobbyists I know strive to keep it under 20-40ppm.
