are you using a flash? dont...what camera you have? have a shutter speed selection mode....use that and try to put your SS around 30...try that and if the pics are too dark lower the shutter speed....if to light raise it...taking pics like this will blacken out the backround try it out and lemme know how it works

Very nice. the perch still looks stressed or the darker background washes his color.
