<< is the fish in the tank on the left of cam 3 a butti? >>
Yes, on one cam, where you see the two tanks - that's a Buttikoferi - he's about 9" and very active. He constantly 're-decorates' his rocks and gravel. He also throws rocks at the glass to get my attention ...
<< care to share with some techlacking people (mainly me) how that was done >>
I'm VERY happy with the setup, very easy. PC, software and webcams:
- Software: WebcamXP,
www.webcamxp.com
- 2 PCs (one in basement with tanks, one in computer room with cats)
- 5 webcams, all Creative NX Ultras, wide-angle lens captures digital video with 78º field of view
- Network and Internet Connection: PC 1, wireless USB connection to the basement driving 4 webcams. PC 2 with 1 webcam in computer room is "sent" to the basement WebcamXP configuration ... therefore all 5 cams are displayed on one page. And regarding internet access - I have cable ... 20 meg down, 3 meg up. But my wireless only gets about 56K, but that seems to be enough to get "ok" quality, IMHO. I use
www.dyndns.org for my external dynamic IP, and have configured my router to "forward" my internal IP thru my firewall, etc.
That's it - and it all works! Thanks for your interest! I'm very happy with the results! Please excuse the very cloudy water in my new (empty) 55 gal. When they delivered the 220 gal yesterday - I asked them to throw in another 55 for the heck of it! I've GONE NUTZ ... certainly need to update my forum signature now!
