it said he usally caught a 3ft fish for supper so maby he just ate the fish he caught for supper? if thats the case this fish wil save the lives of many fish.

Hi guys, writing from Ireland myself & have to say the vast majority of anglers here are pro catch & release & disgusted by the death of such a fish.

Thats good to hear, I think you should let something like that go out of respect for the animal alone.
 
That is the fish of a life time, let the man have his record and his fish. The minimal harvest from most regulated sport fishing is negligable compared to the commercial harvest in most areas. In most countries that have their heads on straight, if the population was in trouble, he wouldn't legaly be able to take the fish. I am a sport charter captain in alaska and have had clients keep and release monster fish. I don't encourage either one, though I talk about both. I just leave it up the fisherman as long as the fish is legal.
