  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like he's in Miami according to his profile... That is one hell of a pond!

that is a great looking pond  .. if it had a glass panel for a side view look of the fish that would have been awesome :grinyes:

be careful about mixing these guys though.. the tsn grow very quickly and might take some of his pondmates as lunch

thanks for the compliments guys, i've had the idea for stocking this pond for over 4 yrs now. the pond is just about 3 1/2 years old. i am going into my junior yr of college so i have to do things when i am home. i already have an 18" tsn and 12" marbled but witnessed them swimming side by side with the new smaller cats tonight. I worry about the myleus, especially that espensive black bar and the prochilodus, been looking for them for a long time. im not expecting eveything to survive but hey nothing was a bank breaker. im just really excited to have some of these fish and cant wait to see them get larger. oh any ideas on the species of crenicichla?...peanut power?....thanks again guys.

Sorry, didn't look at this till now! 90% sure that they are Crenicichla sp. xingu I....need a side profile picture to confirm it...but thats your best bet, from the spangling, lines, and color. I envy you! Awesome pikes! And you got a lotta them! Definately gonna get a pair, if they survive that is. Your probably gonna loose all of the to the cats..:(...even when they are full grown adults they are still not gonna be big enough to be safe from being eaten....
:(. Thats the one downside of Crenicichla, they are torpedo shaped, which makes it easy for other large predators to eat them.

Can I live there? I'll stay under the bridge and eat pellets!

trust...i threw in mosquitofish long ago so they are all over and then put in convicts last christmas about the same time as the first tsn and marbled cat, so they have a few generations to offer as tasty morsels. its a big science project as far as trying to create and equilibrium of food fish to predators. Hopefully i got it right. I know a guy that has a pond with 3 BIG tsn, a few redtails, and a bunch of i think pangasius. He has tilapia in there and the cats cant keep them under control. He also has some of the biggest pacus i have seen, easily pushing 25 lbs.
