Gorgeous fish Modest Man! I love the Carpintis. I am growing out 2 Carpintis "Vontehillos" and cant wait for them to get some size to them. Out of curiosity, how do you tell the sex in Carpintis? Mine are at 3.25". Can they even be sexed that early?

Great pics of healthy, good looking fish as always MM ...

but where's that beauty of a female myrnae?

I'm sorry I wasn't clear I haven't had much luck keeping carpintis, I've had a group of juvie vontehillo that just perished one by one and I got a 7" male from rapps last year that would pick fights with tank mates and then get beat up, when he started the fight to begin with. Tank mates were pretty mellow

I've owned both the Vontehillos and Escondidos and I haven't lost any of them. I've found them to be hardy and easy to care for.

They can usually be sexed by about 2-3". Females tend to have a black blotch in the dorsal fin, and have a much more rounded body shape and less pointy dorsal and anal fins. It's really easy to tell if you have different sexes. When they're all the same sex it can be a bit hard, as you can't see the differences.

She wasn't feeling very photogenic. Along with the godmani, grammodes, more festae, more bocourti, and one more of the Escondidos. Best I can do. I'm still waiting for the Escondidos to pair up so I can remove some fish then I'll pick up another male myrnae and give them their own 29 gallon tank.
