We caught a giant shiner for starters. I've never seen one this big. Around here, six inches is pretty big.

Then saw a dead pleco. It was in the range of 20" to 22". They get up to 24" around here, but it still could have died from old age if it was a female.

Notice the eyes. After the cold weather, all of the talapia have drop-eye.

Btw, this big one weighed in at three pounds.

What is that first fish? It doesn't look like a shiner, more like a herring.

one word "bait"
 
I noticed the really bloody fillets so one tip for a better taste to the fish, bleed them as soon as you catch them. Just cut the vein in the gills and leave in water.
