It doesn't matter what your intentions are, you can't discuss them at all on here. A thread like this got closed like a week ago and the mod(s) warned about infractions and things like that. If you catch them and kill them or whatever it's your own business.

If you go fishing whatever you catch is not MFK's business but discussing it is. That is all I am saying. I am just warning you about this.

Also Jeremy Wade is allowed to catch snakeheads cause he is doing it for a show. I am sure he wasn't allowed to keep them.

Well the op never says anything about destroying them , he states that the infestation is almost complete leading me to believe hes keeping them . I apologize if im incorrect .

Plus if you read Potatomus's first reply it sounds like he is interested in catching and keeping.

BTW I am not getting on anyone's back about this. I am simply just passing info on about discussing snakeheads on here. MFK don't care about your intentions, they just don't want it discussed. Like I said, a thread like this was closed like a week ago. Some guy was talking about the very thing and I told him about fishing for them and I got a warning by a mod for "promoting to catch illegal fish".

I have performed numerous fish surveys and invasive removals for state parks in Florida. They consider invasive removal a service, and they strongly encourage it. Usually you just throw the fish on the shore. However, a snakehead probably requires more gruesome measures since they can climb around.

If this thread does get closed, I would like to officially ask for an explanation why, as this could actually provide information that promotes their removal. I suppose I could call my fish & wildlife contact at the invasive fish lab in Boca Raton to ask for a location, but I figured I'd ask here first.

Well I know this much, I stay about 30 min from The Potomac River, where all this madness began. To this day every year people fish them out by the dozens. But usually in the spring and summer time. They are still super prevalent in these waters. Some kill and some keep. Take this how you want to but "ANYBODY" in this area that wants one can have one. Its like taking candy from a baby.:naughty::naughty::naughty::naughty: Just check out this vid from this past summer. Not my vid btw. lol

I agree! there is nothing wrong with talking about catching the fish, just keeping them. even releasing them is illegal, but many people enjoy catching and killing snakeheads... It makes them feel they are doing a service to help the environment, and snakeheads are powerful, i'd imagine they'd be a tough fight... I see no reason that this would be inappropiate or closed... that would be ridiculous... There is nothing wrong with talking about helping the environment.
but thanks for the fair warning :)

guy in the vid the one person shared needs to find a new fishin partner... it drives me bat**** when my girlfriend comes fishing and then gets freaked out by a fish....

Get this, she was completely fine when i caught a 20" flounder but freaked out when a 6" shiner came off the hook lol

Pomatomus, keep it up, i also hear they taste good to if your into that kinda canal fish diet lol.. ive personally never caught one seeing as how im firth north in Fl then where they are being caught, but i hear they are hard fighters, and fun to catch, add that up with a good fillet and you have yourself a good day and dinner! :naughty:
