Fishing was decent. Friday I spent an hour trying to get a bass or a peakcock bass but nothing. A few times I had them go after the lure they bit the back half tasted it and would have nothing to do with it after that. Interesting things I saw Friday was what looked to be an Alligator Gar very dark come out of the plants and go back in. Easily almost 3 feet but very dark probably stressed. I could not get a picture quick enough and this camera phone would have been crap. Most likely an aquarium release as they are not native. have to take the good camera and go Fishin with the Canon...

Here are a couple of pictures...

Mayan Me Crazy.. 20 - 30 of these caught Saturday on Nightcrawlers...
Clarias Walking/Airbreathing Catfish Also caught on a nightcrawler

That walking cat is outstanding. Thats one of the exotics you hear about yet not many catch or ever see.

Here now close to 2 yrs and dont know anyone who has caught one. I have seen many plecos but never a walking catfish.

Great looking specimen. You had the worm on bottom of canal/pond ?

The water was maybe 3 - 4 feet at most here. Put down 2 1/2 feet on a bobber with nightcrawlers.

Love this spot. Peaceful. Peakcocks and LArge Mouths Oscars, Blue tilapia, Gar. Thats where the Alligator Gar was too. Mayans. Actually saw a small salvini, Tilapia marie. Water is pretty clear most days too.

So the cat swam up for the worm. Okay thanks .

It might be good to wait for them to hit the top of the water for air. He had just hit the top of the water so I knew he was in the area. When the worm hit the water I saw him start swimming frantically for it so I knew I had it.

Thats the problem with canals in my area sometimes clear sometimes murky . Murky canals suck for fishing .

Thats why I like glades as always crystal clear but its a drive .
