State of chaos
With the fishing season coming to a close, I think it would be cool to post the highlights of our season. HERE GOES:
I went to Florida and caught: Dogtooth Snapper, Lane Snapper, Pinfish, Northern Puffer, Striped Mojarra, Flagfin Mojarra, Spotted Seatrout, Sea Catfish, Barracuda, and the biggest fsh of my life: Cownose ray.
NY: Black Seabass (including a potential pool winner, caught and released) a 12 inch Fluke that faught like nothing I've ever had before, a Searobin that dwarfed the Fluke in size, countless tiny Cocktail Bluefish, a big 12 inch Bluefish, (FW) CLOVE LAKE-countless Bluegills/Pumpkinseed/Redbreast Sunfish, a few good sized Bullhead Catfish, a Golden Shiner, 12-inch Largemouth Bass. PROSPECT PARK- 2 big Bluegill: 1 on a spoon, one on bread. a tiny LMB that hit a tiny silver spoon and a big LMB that hit a Rapala Floater, jumped, and threw the hook. CAPE COD: Goose Pond- 4 small LMB on chartruse twister tails, a big LMB hooked/got away (AKA long distance release:WTF:) and a soft plastic that got sawed off by what must be Pickerel.
LOWLIGHTS: Getting hooked by a 2nd hook on the leader while unhooking a personal best Bullhead (that would've also broke the jr world record 1 1/2 lb) but only left me attached to a flopping fish:irked::ROFL: and landed me in the emergency room for 3 hrs. (The nurse said, "Ah, you don't need anestethic. It takes 2 seconds." 3 minutes and countless tugs later, I got the anestethic.) HIGHLIGTS: I returned and caught 10 more Catfish in 2 hrs, a personal best day.
SOOOOO: What are YOUR highlights/lowlights?

catching my first catfish (bullhead)
and catching a three pound lmb
(i kinda had an off year:irked:)

Coming to a end?????? Only if you only fish when it's worm out. I continue to fish until stripe bass season closes. I usually pack up just before Christmas and start up again around April.

Where in NY are you? I am on Long Island. If your willing to brave the cold you can catch fish all year here. I know caz i do. I just take the very very cold month's (Jan-March) off because being on a boat when it's 10F and the wind's blowing 20mph is just to painful no matter how much i love to fish.

As for biggest catches for the year

Inshore
Bluefish 14.5lbs
Fluke 8.3lbs
Striped Bass 36.9lbs
Weakfish 9.6lbs

Offshore
Mako Shark 167.7lbs (we also tag all other mako's we catch before we release)
Mali Mail 28.1lbs
Yellow Fin tuna 30lbs
Ling Cod 5lbs
Wreck Bass 30lbs
Blue Marlin around 250 (we catch, release, and tag all bill fish)

My offshore season has just started. Only got 3 trip's out so far so my offshore numbers will change by the time we stop which is usually end of Oct begin of Nov
