There was a way bigger one but he jumped off my line he was easily 4 1/2 pounds! I was about 2 feet away from the boat and he came up and popped out of the water and in the process taking the hook out. I looked at the pictures with the fish in my hands and it looked about half the size. The one was easily 2 pounds not sure which one though out of the pics.

The biggest one is still in the 1lb range

I am buying a scale so this doesn't happen again but thanks for telling me. I guess I over estimated it again lol I'm gonna go on amazon and buy a scale.

id save your money bud most cheap scales are incredibly inaccurate, as you're just beginning I would recommend just be happy with what you catch and don't concern yourself with the weight. it's great that you share your catches on here with us, and you seem to be catching a lot more fish now than you were when you started posting, so don't worry, the big one is coming!

Ya trying to see how the weather will be and im gonna head out hopefully on a boat if the weather pans out. Maybe gonna get a boat. I'm planning on buying the most accurate scale I can get. Mainly just for the fun of seeing how much my catches weigh.

heres some pics for you guys of my favorite flathead spot that has been destroyed by the drought. 40 pounders are present in the area and likely 50 pounders. This is an out of the way spot that is not fished at all and boats cannot navigate this river, only little Jons and canoes. Pic one is from Friday. Pic two is from last fall, the water was even a little low then. Sad. I lost what had to be a 30+ in May and have only managed a few fish at all since June and all being smaller. Heck, biggest fish at all this year has been 12 pounds so far. Fish 10-20 pounds are abundant in the area and I had been catching several a night until the drought took hold. Caught a 5 pounder and a 15" flathead Friday. Just to show you guys what I have been complaining about.

Most of the hook up problems with top water frogs are not the hook design, its patience. I have several SPRO frogs and when a fish does hit, I rarely miss a hook up. The key is waiting probably a split second longer than you normally do to set the hook. Give them a 1 count, or probably a 2 count (because in your head you'll be counting very fast, lol) and then set the hook. You hook up a lot more. Guaranteed.

That spot looks great Jworth. Nice and peaceful.
