FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No way it'll get up that high yet. I wish I had a Bass Pro closer than 2 hours away. My favorite flathead spots are an hour away, I sure hope that gas doesn't get that high. We have a cabin down there too so that will cost a small fortune to me.

I could get on a soapbox about corruption driving oil prices higher and even more about big companies stiffling technology advances and keeping us using their oil... but I'll save everyone the headache haha

yeah jworth i wish i had taken more advantage of teh bass pro in concord when i as younger and it was 30 minutes away.. its about 2 and a half now haha

Today, after yesterdays success, I decided to take my boat out in the Gulf and hit the same spot as yesterday. Yesterday the Marine forecast was three to five ft waves with ten to twenty knot winds but it ended up being dead calm. Today it was forecast five to ten knot winds and one to two ft seas. Well that didnt happen either, it was a solid three to five which was pretty darn sporty in my seventeen ft boat. Due to a wreck it took us over an hour to get to the ramp and because of the seas we could only make the five mile run out of the pass at less than ten miles an hour. It was planned to be a short trip to begin with but due to the delays we only had a solid hour to fish. The guy I took did not have his sea legs at all and was falling all over the place in the rough conditions. I made him fish sitting down as I didnt want a man over board on my boat.

I thought the fishing was going to be on fire as on the first drop I pulled in a decent fourteen inch flounder. That ended up being it for me other then pig fish, croakers, sand perch and a few short sea bass and short triggers, oh, of course, several red snapper. My buddy landed two keeper sea bass to put in the box.

It was by far the roughest conditions Ive been out in my boat and we came close to taking a couple over the bow but she handled the rough stuff well and brought us home safely.

glad to hear everything went safely man, always a tough call when ur out in the water whether or not to head in when u get that far

well.. it beats sitting around!! Rough seas would make me nervous. Been there, done that on a smaller boat. Its tough. Had 10-12 ft seas on a 26' (if that) and that was just plain dumb...

Eyeballing the Abu Garcia Alphamar 16 ;)

good lord on that reel... that'd almost take the fun out of fighting the fish, you could just crank em in! looks sick tho.. ;D

The 27lbs of drag really attracts me. I am unlikely to need that much very often or if ever, but may come in real handy if I am fishin some nasty snags for some big flatties. May still just go with another 6500c3 for the lower price. You can't really go wrong with those, but those alphamar sure look nice.

yeah that drag is straight nasty... i went to the abu site to look at em and you got me looking at those revos again... hahaha

oh i agree haha.. when i join the bass club team i may be able to get abu garcia rods n reels at a big discount, was talking to one kid in it said they get veritas rods for literally 50% off. If I get a revo it won't be until after I find out if i can get em 50%.

in all honesty though the new johnny morris carbonlite rod and reel combo is possibly the nicest LOOKING combo i've ever seen... gorgeous...
