FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
geeze.. i just cant imagine needing that much line haha. or spooling up 1000 yards of braid at the time... $$$ hahaha

that would be dreadfully expensive. I am only keeping braid on one of my poles now and back to mono on the rest.

yeah... i still havent made the leap to braid. my concern especially in saltwater is every time you snag on a rock you'd lose all of that line if you couldnt break it off and that would get pricey fast... same thing with my freshwater stuff. if i'm paying $30 for 300 yards that adds up quick as i tend to change my line frequently

You don't really need to change it very often at all. Should last several seasons. I however snag frequently and lose it in large amounts. It's also not as abrasion resistant as mono so it doesn't make sense for me since I fish rocky areas. Some places I fish aren't as rocky and it's nice to drag with sinker and be able to tell where it switches from gravel to sand etc. the sensitivity is super nice.

I prefer mono myself but when it comes to bottom fishing and jigging you need to extra power of braid. Eighty pound braid requires less weight and is less effected by the current then eighty pound mono. When you are in over a hundred feet of water the extra thickness of the mono puts some serious drag on the line. Also when you are that deep the stretch of the mono really comes into play as well.

For inshore applications I prefer mono especially where I live as there usually arent too many snags to worry about unlike south Florida with all the mangroves and stuff. Up here I fish with just six lb mono inshore and let em run.

The buying spree continues.

I just grabbed a NIB Penn Battle loaded with braid for fifty bones off of craigslist. I probably wouldnt pay retail for the reel but at fifty percent off I had to jump especially since the seller was just a few houses down from me.

Thursday there is a GIANT sell at a local tackle store. From what I hear the sale is epic.

Not sure what I am going to grab. Probably get another stradic ci4 to replace the one I lost.

My current arsenal:

Inshore
Penn 712z x2
Penn 550ss x2
Penn Battle
Pinnacle Carrera

Pier/Surf
Penn 706z
Penn 704z
Penn 710 greenie with manual conversion

Offshore -where Im lacking in gear-
Shimano TLD 15
Daiwa Exceler 6500T
Penn Senator 113h 4/0 x2 - These are actually my uncles but live with me as he never uses them.

Im thinking I need to score a big Penn Senator 9/0 for beach sharkin this summer.
