looks like y'all had a serious day bowfishing for those carp!! just curious what do you do with all of em?
I throw the carps in the outdoor wood stove. Sometimes I smoked the carps for the dogs, they loved the smoked fish. The suckers ended up as pickled fish.

So jealous that you went trout fishing! I got the carps in Crow Wing River. I think I'd rather go bowfishing for the carps in southern Minnesota than up north....not too many carps up north.

My goal for this bowfishing season 2013 would be get a mirror carp, a 10+lbs bowfin, a gar, a shad, a tulibee and a smallmouth buffalo.

We get small mouth, big mouth, and black buffalo. We get mirror carp, last season my friend shot a 24lb mirror. Bowfins are everywhere, I know where to get a 10lb +. The only thing on you list I cant get is tulibee, they are deep, but I am going to try winter bow fishing this year I think.

If you want to come down to the cities let me know I'll take you out. We have some crystal clear lakes we bowfish it is great!

We put them in the garden.

My friends got tulibees during bowfishing season two summers ago, when the mayflies started to spawn as the tulibees comes up near the surface at night to feeding on the mayflies. It was very challenging to sticking an arrow into the tulibees because of their small size and really fast moving. But it's a doable.

We shoot small suckers and bullheads for practice. It is so hard to hit a 5" bullhead. I have not gone out at night want to though.

What pound drawstrength do you guys use on your bowfishing rigs?

Mine is about #60 lb. You only need about 45lb but the higher you can do the better. Faster arrow speed, longer shot possibilities, deeper penetrating arrow. I also use and recommend the muzzy tips. If you can find/afford them go with the tips that have collapsing barbs. Fixed barbs pull out because they make big holes going in. If you shoot ones with collapsed barbs that open once the is pulled back they will land you more fish and you will have deeper hits with a higher success rate. Resulting in less fish lost to turtle food.

Yeah my hunting bow is set to 65 pound drawstrength. Im gonna use my homemade bowfishing rig at 50 lb draw. I used it originally on a small 4" crappie and a 5" bluegill that I needed for bait and they werent biting so I shot them to test it out

The bowfishing rig I made was with an old bear whitetail hunter and a spool of some really strong line. I am going to use the two small fish I shot that are in my freezer as bait for bowfin this week. But that bow does just fine
