What an awesome weekend! Saturday went to the local dam and made a day out of it with the missus, a mate and his missus. Pulled out two tiapia, 8 lesser salmon-tails, 10-15 bared grunters and a couple of turtles. then sunday I went out on Moreton bay and landed a couple of stripies and some really good looking parrot fish. i am feeling it now though, i have sunburn all over.

Heres some pics.

The first tilapia.

Both of the tilapias were killed and buried straight after the photo shoot. it is illigal to release back to the wild, to keep or breed, or even use this fish as bait because it is such a threat to the environment.

This is the first lesser salmon-tail cat of the day, caught by the missus who seemed to have a fish on the line every three seconds.

It is also said that the barred grunters need to be killed and not released because they are becoming a problem, but I don't like the idea of killing a native fish, so we collected all the barred grunters we caught and released them into the girls parents dam.

There was plenty more fish, but the camera ran out of battery. as soon as I download the remaining pics from my phone I will post them up.

Enjoy.

Nice catches!

What's the black cloth for? Extra grip?

HAha... yeah, the tilapia are slippery bastards. But it was mainly for the catfish, wasn't in the mood for being stabbed with those spines.

Should have ate those tilapia

What species of Tilapia are those? I still don't know.

I still would have let them live, and pretend i had no idea what they were.

Im not too sure on the species of tilapia either. Awesome fish to catch, real fighters.
And I was contimplating ijust releasing them would be a hell of a lot easier, but I'm not keen on getting an $11,000.00 fine. And I felt quite patriotic for cleaning up the ecosystem. it may have only been two fish, but that could mean thousands in the years to come.

Could have meant a delicious dinner too! Looks like a fun day fishing, the tilapia have larger lips than the ones I'm used to seeing though.
