fishless cycle

hi im planning to do a fishless cycle so i brought Dr. Tim's Aquatics Ammonium Chloride but when i dose it and test the water for ammonia ppm it say 0 and i keep dosing it and still saying 0. so i try testing the liquid it self and its clear or clearish yellow. is that mean the bottle i got is fake? i tried the other bottle something.

Is there an expiration date on the bottle? Otherwise there some better ways to cycle a tank faster, could you get ahold of cycled sponge filter or some media from a LFS or somebody you may know?
