when i was 3 or 4 i dumped an entire container of food in my cousins tank, wipeing ot all their stock

I have heard of stupid parents not stopping their children from shaking smaller aquariums. Literally rocking them back and forth. The stupid parents would blame the aquarist if it fell on their child though and it would mess them up pretty bad.
Half the stuff I hear of is because of moronic parents not educating their children on the finer points of not touching anything that doesn't belong to them. It isn't the childs fault, they only know what they are taught.

Well I'm a parent of a 2 year old girl. I have been keeping fish since before she was born so she has grown up with them and I have worked with her at an early age what not to do around the tank. She also is great with dogs seeing that she has 3.

My daughter loves the fish. She will sit and watch them with me. She will Help me clean the glass. She loves to feed them. I think fish are great for kids to have around. I hope that when she is older she will share in my love of the hobby and I look foward to setting up a tank with her.

this is here when she was 14 months old.

the first time my grandsons came to my house they were 1 and 3 years old (they live in AL, I'm in CA). the older one thought that my fish were the neatest thing he'd ever seen and he LOVED watching them (it was kinda lost on Bob, and still is at 5 years old). he banged on the glass once.. i told him that it hurts the fish and he immediately quit and asked what he could do. so i gave him a spray bottle of vinegar and water and showed him how to clean the front of the tanks. and when it was time to feed the fish i let him help me cut up the fish and shrimp and throw it in for the peacock bass..

Michael (7 now) still loves fish as much as i do, me and him had a blast at the Georgia Aquarium two years ago. And he still talks about coming to see my fish here in CA.

When I was little my parents had a tank and I dumped the whole can of fish food in the tank, lol.

Oh it lived, that's funny. Not funny for the fish but you know what I mean.

Working at the museum we had a group of special needs kids show up with horrible chaperons. One of the kids slipped away and went into the employee only area of the museum and to the back of the aquariums. That kid smashed 12 quarantine tanks and killed several rather expensive fish as well as ruining the huge filter systems we had for them.

Then when I asked them to leave (the chaperons, not the kids) I was accused of being insensitive. I told them that it did not matter if the children were special needs or not but that if they could not keep them under control they had to leave. I got in a lot of trouble that day from both ends because a) thousands of dollars were lost because of some kid and b) because I asked them to leave. It eventually sorted itself out but it was the biggest pain in the you know what!

LOL i actually took my dads net when i was young like about 5 and went fishing in his 40 gallon Plucked out all the convicts and only 5 survived out of 20 :(
