So I'm trying to lose some body fat and gain muscle mass for both memorial day weekend vacation and just for myself period, but i came across some conflicting info

To lose the fat i need to use more calories than i take in daily...
To gain the muscle i need to take in more calories than i lose daily...

Wtf?
Background info: I'm 16: 5''7" 130 lbs. I've been completely gone from any chocolate, chips, or other fatty foods and snacks, and have been doing bicep/tricep exercises with jumping jacks and other jumping cardio stuff in between sets and take 2 scoops of trader joes whey protein in a small glass of milk afterwards (17g per serving). This is daily btw. I also do around 40 pushups and started doing more cardio over the last week or so.

My trader joes protein is almost done, as well as pretty weak, so I'm planning on either buying

What do I need to do to get bigger and lose the fat over the little muscle that's there?

At your age, all you need to do is start lifting and clean up your diet. You won't gain size by doing jumping jacks. Google "5x5 workout program" for a good beginner routine. Stick to it and you will grow.

In my opinion, the best place to buy protein and other supplements is from TrueProtein.com . You can save 5% off your entire order by using discount code LYP800; 10% if you order 16 lbs or more!

For a protein that can be used anytime, try TeamSkip Blend

Keep your protein high and you'll gain muscle. You will loose fat by keeping your calories less than what you burn, the missing calories for building muscle will keep from body fat. Once you get lean you'll need to up your calories, when in top shape ot will be easy to dial in your diet. Keep a journal, you'll notice if you need to cut calories or increase in little as 3 days and be able to adjust before any setbacks occur.

To lose fat and gain muscle at the same time is really hard! no matter what protein supplement you take your appetite will increase drastically.

Iwould simply recommend to lose the weight first, then do the weights.

However if you still take this path check out ON 100% gold whey protein. lowest in calories around.

great reviews for tht stuff

Dont know where you got your info from but that is incorrect. Its...

Burn more calories than you consume = weight loss
Consume more calories than you burn = weight gain

Just because you burn more calories than you consume doesnt mean you are losing all fat. I know people that lost weight but their body fat % stayed the same.

&

Just because you are consuming more calories than you burn doesnt mean it will be muscle. For example, people that are obese consume more calories than burn.

Nutrition is the first place to start. Do you know your current daily calorie intake?

How many meals a day are you eating?

You mentioned the things that you are NOT eating. The important thing is what ARE you eating.

Before spending money on protein, get your food intake dialed in. Nothing replaces REAL food. Get your proteins from steak, fish, chicken etc. If you are not eating the right foods, then supplements are going to be a waste of money.

Spend some time researching about proper nutrition and beginner work outs.

If you are doing this for yourself and want to make a lifestyle change then you have a lot of time. If you are doing this for memorial day, you have no shot. You are not going to see a difference in that short amount of time.

Quit wasting your money on protein powder. Some people use milk to get their protein. Google a gallon of milk a day. Has some great info. I always liked this site
rosstraining.com real down to earth guys, straight forward,no bs. Good luck bro hope you meet your goals

Recent research shows that you don't need more than 1.2g protein per KILOGRAM of body weight, so don't overdo it ... that could contribute to more fat if you eat in excess. But definitely keep supplementing protein if your diet lacks in it.

To build muscle you will need to eat more if you want to do it fast, otherwise eating regularly is fine, and doing cardio to lose fat. But you can't do both if you are going for results faster.

And x2 @ revival.

jump rope is the quickest way to lose body fat. That's why so many boxers and fighters jump rope so much it also tones your arms, shoulders and legs at the same time.
