five star general jewel cichlid

They're nasty fish. I think you'll end up with one fish in your 75 gallon. I kept a large male I caught in a 30 long with some giant danios for a day...he just killed them all off.

They've been introduced to Hawaiian waters...I would go catch them for bait for peacock bass fishing all the time.

wow I just saw about 5-7, 5 spot Jewel cichlids for the first time last weekend. Their look is awesome, first time i've ever seen them and i was floored by how sweet they looked. I don't know if the store will ship they don't even have a website.

Pet-Pourri in Everett, WA have them too... I was thinking of picking one up because they are beautiful, (they are labeled as 5 star generals there too) But this rumor of them being agressive isn't sitting well with me... the only tanks i have to be single species are 10 gallons and I'm housing a Jaguar in one right now till my catfish outgrow the oscar tank. He was ripping their barbles off... not good.

But now I wonder... They are both very agressive fish, kinda look similar... could a five star/spot be kept with a Jaguar? Or would they just fight till they both were dead?

And I misread the date on this... sorry for diggin up such an old post....

if you going to try with a jag make sure the jag is bigger or other wise i think the five star will kill it

in a ten gallon tank? of course if it is a small tank one of em will obviously end up dead due to lack of space. but it will prolly be your jag
