Looks like a brown snake. Storeria dekayi victa, nice little snakes. I've found a few of the northern subspecies in michigan. They are tiny (yours is nearly an adult) live bearer that give birth to the tiniest baby snakes i've ever seen. They were the size of earth worms.

The one or two that settled into to feed for me ate night crawlers and worms. I've been told they'll feed on slugs as well.

Harmless little fellows, though sometimes they'll swing their heads side to side rapidly to startle would be predators.

They live under leaf litter and logs, and man made debris (carpet left overs, shingles, plywood ect).

Jason

PS thanks for not reacting reflexivly and killing the snake like some many non snake fans would do.

fo some one who gets scared handling snakes you sure have hatched a lot of snakes. How did the cinder block fall on the snakes head?

the last one is very dangerous, a coral snake, rear fanged but badass venom. Di you say you lived around Ft Myers or in Lehigh?

The last snake IS a coral snake. A rather large one at that!

Remember; Red on yellow kill a fellow, red on black friend of Jack!

When I was kid in South Alabama I would catch them. I sseriosuly cant believe Im still alive!
