Have you had problems with your flagtail sucking on your stingrays?

I voted "have had problems" but very very little. Kept both together for a very long time and only a few times has the flag tail ever gone down to suck on a Ray. Way I see it is if your Rays are healthy and strong they should be good to retreat if the flag tail becomes bothersome. As well I personally feel that the flagtail is a very busy fish and feels the need to suck almost 100% of the time so if your tank is spotless he might feel the need to pick at fish. My tank is big and has tons of film to suck off so he is busy all day long. Also if a flagtail is gong to go nuts on a Ray and the Ray can't burry its self as protection because you have a bare bottom tank then I can get why the Ray wouldn't be able to retreat. All in all I know I run the risk as many will say. I hope I never find myself in a bad situation.
I was toying with the idea of flag tails until I started hearing it was dangerous for the Ray. alot of the people saying this appear in photos to have bare bottom tanks also... I am new to Ray keeping, so what you said about the sand for retreat makes perfect sense and is naturally programmed good point and ty

I had to move my 12 inch flag tail to a different tank because he constantly harassed my rays by sucking on their backs......to the point he was starting to cause damage and too much stress for the rays.

I had a flagtail that I raised from a baby to over 12" in with my rays. Never had a problem. Loved it as he cleaned the tank pretty good. Never saw him touch a ray. Until I came home from work one day and in the matter of about 10 hours was sucking on one ray(and there were 10 in the tank) so relentlessly that the rays back was raw so bad that I thought I was going to lose her. Took weeks for her dorsal disc to heal. Wouldn't do it again.

Thank you for sharing

It seems as if the majority of you have had problems when your flagtail was larger..say like 10 inches or bigger?

Its the only one I had. Rays killed the others. Cant speak for anyone else tho. But mine was good till he got big....
