FLAGYL med

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've never used it but its generic name is metronidazole if that helps anyone.

Metro or Prazi is the preferred meds for treating internal parasites in rays. If you can get them to ingest it, all the better.. Never heard it called FLAGYL before.

i just wouldnt use any meds with rays apart from eSha 2000 ,melafix or primafix to much of a gamble

Flagyl/Metronidazole

I keep some pigeons and I have to treat them with this for bacteria related infections.

Metronidazole works by entering bacterial and protozoal cells and interfering with their genetic material (DNA). It damages the DNA and also prevents the bacteria and protozoa from forming new DNA. This ultimately results in metronidazole killing the micro-organisms, which clears up the infection.

I hear its also used after surgery to prevent infection from appearing. Personally I use Flagyl tablets in my birds drinking water. I'm a noob with fish so wouldn't know dosages etc...

It's hard to get in the UK, I have to get mine ordered from Spain.

If you need contact details for purchase from Spain just let me know.

Thank you Mac.

Here it's very easy to find. If you need you can tell me and i send it.
But my problem is to know if it's ray safe and if someone uses it.

I have used Seachem's Metrodazinole when importing rays.. I have also used PraziPro in a bath for a QT period.. no harm done. I usually re-treat based on the solidity of their feces, and how fast they gain weight over the next months time.

I have heard it is best if you can inject the medication into an earthworm..
