I have used Seachem's Metrodazinole when importing rays.. I have also used PraziPro in a bath for a QT period.. no harm done. I usually re-treat based on the solidity of their feces, and how fast they gain weight over the next months time.

I have heard it is best if you can inject the medication into an earthworm..

Thank you Miles. That's the information i was hopping for.

My english is not very good but i'm going to try to explain what that brazilian guy told me to do.

He said that the best way it was to get live shrimp, for me it's easy to find here, and put them in a bath with Flagyl/Metrodazinole during 2 or 3 days. The shrimp will absorve the meds and finally die (i think it could happen) and, after this time, then give the shrimp to the rays.

I think this is a good idea, no? I'm not sure if the shrimp will absorve the meds, but i think this could be possible.

Interesting stuff.. I always listen to the natives if possible.. Their experience can go much further than ours.

I am unsure about shells expulse bacteria, however I could see the roughage helping digestions. Also, like puffers with tetraodoxin, the crustaceans they eat in the wild could give them some sort of artificial anti-body to fight off parasites and nemotodes.. Stingrays, being bottom dwellers, are prone to parasites..

Soaking the shrimp is an interesting idea.. I would do it for whatever method seems to work best, or whatever they are eating the best. Like I said, injection with a syringe into a worm, although tricky is most effective.. Keep in mind most medications are water soluble, so if you soak their food in meds, most of it leeches into the water before being ingested..

I have given rays a 2x strength bath of Prazi with no ill effects.. I have also given strong Metro baths.. Ingestion is the way to go though.. I am unsure if the Shrimp will absorb the meds, and how effective the meds are once absorbed by another organism.

I had a theory about feeding guppies and ghost shrimp, anti-parasite based foods.. then feeding them to predators like needlefish or leaf fish..

After doing some research, the theory was squashed.. largely due in part to most of the sources I found said that the initial ingestion of the medication usually absolves all of it's beneficial properties..
