Its red, it doesn't resemble a texas whatsoever. If it actually looked like a texas it would be a different story. If you cross two fish that look the same then people are going to think they are one or the other. Considering theres no such thing as a red texas and there are convicts with red tails already he should not be calling them this, this just sounds like a variant of convicts.

The fish I bought as a pure convict is obviously a hybrid because of irrisponsible hobbyists like this kid calling them "flame tail convicts" instead of just calling them what they are, convict and honduran red point hybrids.

I'm not bashing this thread or anything, I'm just saying.. DON'T SELL THEM AS CONVICTS, BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT. Its not that complex..

Why So Serious?!?!?!?

fishbreeder said hes not selling them unless he see them in stores.... unlikely but in the rare event he does sell them make sure the store know there hybrids..

you clearly don't know anything about your own fish.

Then its not an SRT its an unfaded red texas. Only a % of red texas go red and they have a more intense pearling as well have a different pearling pattern then texas varieties. A Super Red Texas is that SUPER RED so if its not showing intense red color then its a Red Texas if its not showing any red/orange then its an unfaded red texas. Still cool just not worth a whole bunch.

So is the whole issue the fact convict is in the name since its not a pure convict? If its such an issue the drop convict and we can call them flame tails. simple.

hmm could be ,but thats a little unlikley due to size differnce in between FH and con or FH and HRP

The size doesn't matter, cons mix with large central americans all the time. That picture shows distinct RED eyes which is a trait only found in certain fish, the pearling gives it aways as a flowerhorn hybrid.

No flowerhorn blood there, while there has been plenty of con x fh this is not one of them.

pretty sure this is a HRP x convict hybrid but I bought it as a regular convict.

This DOES have flowerhorn in it, Show me the fish that would give it pearls and red eyes like the one above. Heck, it even looks like a low grade flowerhorn.

You haven't seen to many flowerhorns then...

1) pearls/ coloring is from an HRP. Some of my flame tails have a broken up pattern like that on their tails. If there was FH then there would be pearling over the body not that HRP sheen.

2) The eyes are not red, they are a pinkish/purple which also my flame tails have which are a hrpxcon cross.

3) the body structure is that of a flowerhorn which would dominate the convict.

4) flowers/plumbs are going the wrong direction, front to back not back to front.

5) Colors, if it was FH there would have to be some hint of red on the belly not blue.

This is a lost strain from Indonesia dubbed Pikachu which is a flowerhorn crossed with a convict and only got to be about 6-7"

I understand what your saying but I have numerous HRP's and none have "pearling" like the one above and none have the eye color like the one above. It is entirely possible to have your hybrid look like this

But others take on more characteristics of the con or HRP. After looking at the top fin, I am more inclined to think its Flowerhorn/HRP but FH none the less.

But in the end, I could be wrong. I hope mine look like those in the end because nothing would make me happier then to get a bunch of those...
