Nice looking fish, looks like it's going to be a beast! :)

As far as Midas or RD, there's no way in telling what this fishes genetic make up is just by eye balling a picture of a fish, which sans any type of provenance leaves one with no other choice than to consider it a mix. (midevil)

In the midas complex it's not as simple as detemining the species by head shape, body shape, hypertrophied fleshy lips, etc. In the wild citrinellus have been found with deep bodies, and thin lips, as well as elongated bodies, and fleshy lips. The experts are still sorting this out, and many new species are & will continue to be found within the crater lakes of Central America.

Regardless of it has a made up name or not, that is one good looking fish. I would have ended up picking it up if I saw it at my lfs as well.

Well i have some bad news,i found out this guy was a hybred from the store owner and not a true RD,I truly do not like owning a hybred so i am selling it,i picked up a cream sickle Midas that had been ordered originally from Jeff Rapps and raised by a friend i will post pics of it later on.

A hybrid of what, did he say?

Nice looking citrinellus, with some provenance, congrats.

Still interested to know what the hybrid was a cross of?
