IN YOUR HEAD
i have been seeing several talks about these. i jave always thought they were jurunese cats? i have read that they are jurunese cats but the "golden" type. is that true? they look like/are jurunese cats, but instead of being purple and white they are purple and gold/yellow?

I think just my opinion. Just a locality thing...:D

They are juru's, and it is a locality thing. It is suspected that there is something in there diet in the wild that brings out the color. All the ones that I've seen imported lose their coloring in a matter of months because they are missing that special something from their diet.

it could be locality of collection. that could also lead to a potential color variant. i have been looking around and seeing them basically classifide in different "subspecies"

thats what i thought. i have seen pics of large "gold jurus". i was looking for them before a few years back, but all i got was a dead end. it sucks that they lose their colors. has anyone had long term colored success with them?

like if you feed tilapia, shrimp, krill, or crayfish to pbass and aros their reds come out more? carotine affect.

I know what you mean. I gut load crickets and worms with carrots and spinach for some of my fish to bring out reds and oranges. I don't know if anyone has tried this, or something similar for flash zebras, but I'm curious too.
I've only seen them available once, and the price was very high for something that might just turn out to be a juru so I didn't grab one. If I had the money, I would give it a shot.

Scott crow was getting in a nice size one. I havnt seen a pic of it yet thow.

clay, i heard he was getting some in. i wonder if the larger ones will stand a better chance at retaining their colors.

They have been raised in captivity with yellow/yellowish bands. I think it is quite rarely accomplished though. See the amazing shots here:

that seconed one is awesome! the first threads fish is a great fish, but i belive that one was caught that size and with that pattern. there are some wicked pics of adult golden jurus on the web. i believe most of caught at the size they are pictured in the tank. obviously mr. plecos juru was not. all the jurus i have had lost all pattern and then my interest. i love tigs, but they have become hard to find small as of late. especially when i have money. a golden juru would be amazin to have with my gars! been looking to spice up the gar tank with some colors and what better then a catfish to make it happen! i already got pbass for it just beed to complete it.
