Flat head catfish

I was told he wouldnt get over a foot the first year and only grow a few inches a year. But it all depends on the fish and habitat hes 10 inches right now

10" for one year is indeed substantially smaller than usual but it is not horrible - maybe he was not feeding well for a while or his genetics are such or the OP is not recalling the timing all that correctly or the tank was small or he had an illness, etc. etc...
