first off hello !
this is my first post on this forum
this is my set up
tank: 150g
filtration: 29g custom sump mag 12 pump, fluval 404, aquaclear 70 powerhead
ammonia: 0
n02:<0.3 mg/l
ph: 8
temp: 77f
the tank is stocked with 13" channa micro, 10" rtc, 8" common pleco

my question is my micro has had some flat white poop, i have noticed this only when he hasn't eaten for a few days. Nothing has changed in his behaviour, he eat's like a pig, swims and looks great. should i be worried?
I was told it was a internal parasite and started to med with seachem metroplex what do you think i should do?

Could be a tapeworm. Is it segmented?

it sometimes looks segmented and others it looks one peice?
whenever he stresses out it comes out more when he calms down it goes back in?

OMG, yeah, Definitely a tapeworm. I'd be soaking his food in Praziquantel every feeding. Three times a day. I've had good success with Prazi-Pro, but I don't use it exactly the way it's prescribed. I dose the tank at 80% of the recommended dosage and then put drops of it on the food and feed small amounts 3x a day. Maintain for three courses of treatment totaling nine days. Gravel vac every day to get proglottids out of there. And never feed him anything nasty again. Start raising your own feeders and you'll be practically parasite-proof. What are you feeding him now?

thanks for the info, im using metroplex rite now will that help or should i switch to parazi-pro? his diet consists of maily large feeders, market shrimp , earthworms i think i should cut out the feeder gold fish!!

Market shrimp can also contain a dangerous preservative is they are precooked. Go with raw (gray) shrimp to be on the safe side. And yes, good idea to get rid of the goldfish. I'd bet my Oscar that's where the worm came from. Goldfish are a cyprinid and contain thiaminase, as well as being carelessly bred by the millions without any consideration for quarantine or health. Stick with something tropical like guppies that you can breed on the side easily. And I think you can get your SH to take pellets if you try. But not now.

For now, stick with the treatment you are using. Do not stop early. If you finish the course and the worm isn't laying dead on the floor of the tank, then I'd say do another huge water change and start with the Prazi-Pro.

thanks again!, the shrimp are peeled raw frozen, with the metroplex that im treating now what would be the best way to dose it?
im using one measure in the food and the rest in the tank is this the most effective way?

What do you mean by 'a measure'? Like a fraction of the dose?

metroplex (Metronidazole) comes with a small spoon that the refer to as one measure derections to feed are use one measure with one tablespoon of frozen food paste, so i use one measure per shrimp i feed him, i inject the shrimp with a siringe so i know he gets it, is this the rite way ? or is there a better method?

No, that sounds wonderful. How long are you supposed to keep up the treatment?
