We're collecting eggs very soon from farm ponds. Hopefully, we'll have a couple of thousand fry to raise this year since losing last year's crop. I'll keep everyone posted.

Wow! That would be awesome if you were to have some babies for sale. Def would be interested.

well its not for an aquarium its for my outdoor pond its about 32' by 40' and to keep them in my pond would require a permit which i already obtained and this thread was originally posted in another thread but it got moved for some reason
but please keep me posted about those flathead fry i would appreciated very much
and if anyone else has any info please feel free to share=)

I have several in my Farm Pond that I caught out of a local river and used as stock 11 years ago. They are monsters now decimating all other species.

what other fish secies did you keep in your pond?
and did they completely wipe out all other species or are there some species that are still thriving?
haha i did my research on them and i know they're fierce, also i think someone asked if there not native to CA?
they aren't native here but there are wild populations of them here in the colorado river and several pay lakes also stock them but i have no idea where they get them and according to the people that work there they don't know either which i thought was strange O_o

I started with 5-1.5-2 lb FlatHeads and 10-5 lb + Channels. At that time we were way overstocked with Bluegill hybrids and Bass. Now I can't even catch any of the Bluegills and Bass population has been cut probably in half.
I know they are breeding now as we have caught young ones at the 5" range in both channels and Flatheads. The last time I caught a Flat I would say he was 25-30 lbs.
You could try and catch your own or try the Fish and Wildlife they can steer you towards someone who stocks ponds.

thats sweet so you have channels with the flatheads and there doing all right?
bluegill over populating are the main reason why i want flatheads i also have channels in my pond but channels aren't really predatory but thanks for the info if you catch any flathead fry i'd be happy to get them off your hands=)
