Something is VERY wrong with my gulper catfish.

This is what's going on:
I usually feed him 2 peices of shrimp twice a week. I don't like to over feed him. Three days ago I gave him a treat. I bought a 4" really fat feeder from my LFS. I know the feeder was in good condition b/c the store never has bad feeders. He was okay until this moring. I noticed this white ring about is belly. Tonight I just checked and it's now this. (pics below). What is it? He is still very active and has his usual dumb look on his face but I need something to fix this. I'm going out to get some stuff tomorrow asap to fix this but I'm not sure what kind. I don't mind spending over $80 on some good meds for him.
take a look:

Maybe a stupid question, but is there a pleco in with him?
Actually looks like a pleco got to your fish.
Could he have burnt himself on your heater maybe?

clean water and time if it's a burn.. dosing with antibacterial and antifungal meds would probably be prudent regardless.

be really careful with meds, scaleless fish reactive different to different meds. good luck though.

skip meds. bump the temp. add a little salt. do more water changes. he'll be ok.

take a look at your heater, the size, shape, position in tank, and compare the sore with that. if it looks like it would be possible, it probably came from that. if there is no way, then go to the next step...meds. sometimes we forget to look at things that are right in front of us.....believe me im very guilty of that.

Dont add salt -

Keep the water clean. Does appear to be like a heater burn. Id treat w/ meth blue which will should help keep most water mold infections in check; plus its ,mild. At 3-4% solution (must be zinc free) do 1 drop per gallon. And keep an eye on it. If u see cotton like stuff appear or velvet out of the ulcer looking thing then post back.

epson salt or aquarium salt i swear it works like jesus my fish got into a teritory fight and the salt not only healed them in less then 5 days also it helps the crap there food alot easier i allways put a little in every month just to keep them up and going
