Clearly this fish has some (bac, fun) ulcer or burn or?. The fact that your suggesting epson salt for this fish tells me your unknowledgable re: fish disease/trama. Such advise if taken could potentially kill someones expensive fish. First off salt consists of sodium chloride, so it's an entirely different substance than magnesium sulfate (epson salt). Another reason not to use salt is find a good fish vet or phd in fish pharm who suggest using salt; u wont. Because they understand on a cellular level the harm of it. Fish have low lood pressure w/ single circuit system and a 2 chamber heart. Water follows salt, so u add salt, blood pressure rises. BP rises which triggers cortizol levels to rise, then say good bye. And if that doesnt work the renal system will fail. Once the kidneys go its over. I know someone who loves to promote the benefits of salt. He unknowingly killed a prized fish from salt which died of renal failure.
Its time to get off the salt wagon and get educated. And use it on your eggs in the morning instead of treating your fish
Epson salt can be used as a pre treatment prior to shipping fish. As it acts like a laxative which would result in lower levels on ammonia in the shipping water.
