From a local member - Alex ("cartersvillealex" here). The male was from John O'Malley's collection, obtained through Jeff on xmas eve 2006. I believe the female was imported by Below Water.

that pair was actually in a 125g before peter picked them up. alex said the male was pretty rough on the female in there. it looks like with the other fish and large tank they've chilled quite a bit

yea from my experience active, quick dithers do wonders for cichlids
 
Do you use fertilizers in your tank at all? Ive considered doing live plants in my tanks, but just a few like yours.

I use liquid fertilizers in my other tanks, but not in the 300g yet. Just bought some root tabs for the swords. The Anubias should be fine...
