kennesaw, ga
yesterday i noticed my senegal floating at the top of the tank. as he tried to swim down his rear half tried to stay floating. at first i figured it was a swim bladder problem and was expecting him to be dead this morning or still floating but to my dismay, he was chilling at the bottom. this has happened one other time before with him. could it still be a swim bladder problem, could he be eating too much, or maybe something else. water parameters are good temp is 76-78, just did a water change tuesday

This has happened to my poly before. It is probably his diet. This might sound strange, but I think its gas. I know rainbows have this problem. He will be fine. Just try changing the diet, but keep an eye out for any other problems.

I agree on the gas. Mine all do it periodically. Never enought to worry me though.

wow i didnt think that fish could get gas but i have seen my polys the do the same thing i wounder if i can get a pic of them fartting

i have been feeding more shrimp pellets since it seems to help them grow more, i guess ill switch it up more.

happened to my ornates most of the time when i used to feed them tubifex worms
but now they eat aro sticks and haven't seen any floating ornates now :D
