This will add pressure to the swim bladder. You could try not feeding late at night or halving food or switching food. Presoaking is generally not recommended since many vitamins are water soluble and will wash away.

Id watch how much you feed him...i know my oscar will eat until he explodes

Or else its just being an oscar...ive always seen them as more like dogs than fish

I agree. He probably just likes it up there. I have had Oscars the slept on their sides on rocks close to the top. Never a prob though.
