Florida Fish Farm trip April 2009.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks great pics . What a big fish farm the ones I have been to are small compared to that one. LOTS of cichlid vats in that pic.

Those ray pics are esp great . Its just wrong that they import them but cant sell them in state lol.

Thanks i'll check it out.

Miami has a few fish farms none as big as the one he went to .
No where near the selection but you can still find great fish and great prices.
His fish farm isnt open to public thus they can hold fish which are illegal to sell in Florida but not illegal for fish farm to hold for outside state sales.

I bought my firemouths from http://www.tropicalfishmiami.com/shop/

Over year ago and great looking fish very inexpensive but it varies some months chuck loaded with fish some not many .

This third group of pictures are all taken underwater, not through a front glass.
My favorite pic, though its green and murky is of the Lamena.
Swimming with spawning Lamena, not alot of people have been able to do that, so that was big time for me.

wow stunning, are those babie babie arowana? reason i ask is about the weird orange thing's in the picture

yeah, those are baby Arrowana with the egg sacks. The picture is not so good because of flash back off the aquarium glass.

Was this facility featured in an issue of TFH?

I think I recognize the use of massive amounts of gravel-filled tanks for amazing biological filtration.

I'm not sure if they have been used in TFH, i did not ask, plus i don't have a very complete collection of TFH, i pretty much only get Cichlid News now.
Which in the October issue Ad Konings will be writing an article about this trip, with professional pictures!
The filtration they used is pretty neat, i got alot of ideas about filtration from these places.

OOOOOO! How nice that a farm is working with Madagascar cichlids ... of course, didn't Laif's work with these for a long while? :D

Very nice to see Cichlid News get a plug here, it is a great informative magazine, and a subscription well worth the low price. I prefer it to all other fish mags (even the BB, which is also well worth the subscription price)! The only pity is just 4 issues a year ... I would prefer 12 (and gladly pay 3x the subscription for it!).

Wow very cool!!!

I met Ad this month at my local cichlid club meet. Awesome guy!
CCA represent!
