I am temporarily keeping my 7 inch Florida Gar in a big 50 Gallon plastic tub with a Sponge Filter in there. Good or Bad? Any tips on what type of care I should do?

Does it need heat where you live? If so, be careful with a heater in plastic.

Otherwise, as long as the plastic is good quality and clean it should be fine as a temporary home. (Usually if the plastic is not fish safe you would notice it very quickly by a dead fish).

The dimensions are probably not ideal as tubs are usually very deep and not very long or wide, but as I said it should be fine for a bit.

You have no idea how big the tub is. Not too deep, very wide and very long. I think a 20inch gar would fit here perfect. Yea, well its very cold here in California and my tank water drops to 60's when there is no heater on. But the heater is placed in very well in the tub to not cause any damage. I used heatpads for them for my snakes also. doesnt do any damage.

Should be fine, but why are you having to keep it in there?

Yes, it has a cover. Well I got a great deal for it and couldn't let it go. I have been looking for one like crazy. My other tanks have baby RBP's and I can't place the gar in there. But I am working on getting a tank for him. Soon my baby Gar will get his perfect home!

here is a tip, change ur location

and should be fine for a TEMP home

Yep,what he said^^^.

If he wouldn't listen, why would he ask. I doubt he asked a question he did not want an answer to.
