Florida
mouth of a creek/river. We caught a big one in the intercoastal right at the mouth of a river, anyone elese ever even see one in salt water? It was a florida gar for sure, a nice lookin' one too.

Hmm, intresting.

how big, did you happen to get pics?

hmm
i have never heard of floridsa gar being tolerant of salinity.
Intresting.
are you sure it might not be Gator gar

Gator gars do frequent SW, again like the rest, Im not sure about Florida Gars. Did you have alot of rain recently? Sometimes when it rains alot the water that is being emptied out to the bay will stay "fresh" for quite awhile around the mouth of the river even though technically its in the bay.

it was probably more of brackish water if it was at the mouth of a river

He was just outside of the river mouth, I don't think we get gator gars down here, could've been a spotted instead of a Florida. The tide was going out so maybe it was rather brackish. It was still an odd catch.

No pictures, I've had some bad luck with cameras on a boat.

I think he was around 3'.

ive seen it, my bud caught a 40incher in a tournament. saltwater.
