First, can i catch gar out of the river and sell them? ;)

How much do gar cost?

i was just wondering becausw they have to come from somewhere lol. Not planning that either, i dont have any tanks big enough for those monsters anyways lol

it's generally illegal in most states for the avg citizen to catch and sell native and or game fish-Anne

yes it would be illegal. even though i doubt many states consider them "game fish" ...

all fish "have to come from somewhere" but 95% of fish in the aquarium trade are raised in fish farms.

"how much do they cost?" it depends, but average price from a LFS for a florida gar is in the $20-25 range i'd say. gators and tropical gars are more

So i looked up whether a Gar was a game or non game, its a non game. So does that mean i can take it and put it in my tank or sell it? I havent been able to find a clear rule on whether i can or cant.

Thanks

with a fishing license you can catch the fish and keep it yourself. selling it would likely require some sort of vendor's license, although this varies from state to state. if you're looking for a fish for yourself, go for it...as for selling, i would say it's likely more trouble than it's worth--

mine cost 15 dollars

Ok, Someone correct me if im wrong, but i read the Florida Freshwater Fish site. What i got from that is that if you buy a Florida Freshwater Commerical license, then you can take freshwater fish and sell them but you cant buy fish that you intend to sell.

If i wanted to buy fish to sell fish than i could buy the Florida Freshwater Fish Dealer.

Im going to call Monday to be completey sure, so if anyone wants to know the results ask me and ill post what they tell me.

Thanks
